As we begin this book, keep in mind that James was a man familiar with suffering. He understood trials and thus he didn’t write empty words. He was speaking from experience. James shows us how to go from trials to triumph instead of from trials to defeat. 

Can we avoid trials? James tells us that is inevitable 

Regarding trials, James says in verse 2, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,”.
